Rosie & The Riveters Live Performance @ 8 pm; Doors open @ 7 pm

Feb 11, 8:00 AM- 9:00 AM - Carnduff Community Theatre

“We’re so excited to get back on the road with our new album; and I’m bringing my baby again! As the littlest Rosie at only 7 months old, she’s happy to watch me and her honorary aunties sing and dance every night. Bonus: there’s no better way to calm a fussy baby in the tour van than with lullabies in four-part harmony.” - Farideh Olsen

Rosie & the Riveters sold out shows across the country at venues such as the Broadway Theatre in Saskatoon (400+ tickets) and the Calgary Folk Club (350+) with their album release tour in the fall. The press took notice of their radio success and sell-out shows and they appeared on eTalk and were guests on CBC’s The Next Chapter and CBC Music’s How-To Series, among other notable media spots.

To see the ladies live is to become a Rosie & the Riveters fan. Thanks to months of rehearsals in dance studios and years of experience as professional musicians, the ladies pull together sophisticated harmonies, body percussion, scintillating dance moves, and humour to connect in a big way with their audience. Along with whoops, hollers, mile-wide smiles, matching 1940s dresses, the group offers a spectrum of music for all ages that includes their own original catalogue plus crowd-pleasing covers such as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy., Another point that’s unique about this group is that there is no lead singer. Each member sings each part in different songs: lead, low harmony, and high harmony.

ABOUT ROSIE & THE RIVETERS

Rosie & the Riveters are four fiercely talented and sassy dames from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, who perform uplifting folk music with a vintage 1940s flare. They are: Alexis Normand, Allyson Reigh, Melissa Nygren, and Farideh Olsen.

They’re inspired by Rosie the Riveter, the feminist icon who represents the women’s movement into the workforce during WWII and embodies the strength and power that thrive in every woman. The Riveters are about empowering women to be ambassadors for change in their community and in support of this goal, they invest 20% of their merchandise sales to support other women’s projects around the world through KIVA.org. To date they’ve invested $3,550 and have created a lending team which is open to anyone who wants to join them in the cause.

Previous to Good Clean Fun! (produced by JUNO winner Murray Pulver and mentored by gospel legend Ken Whiteley), the group released a four-song demo in 2011, followed by a live album titled “LIVE” in 2012 recorded in Saskatoon with Ross Nykiforuk (The Northern Pikes, The Sheepdogs, and more).

“As charming off the stage as on, these retro-lovelies revive the charm of the ‘40s. Their harmonies are as flawless as their porcelain complexions and fabulous frocks. Rosie & the Riveters are wholesome, winsome and then some.” - Jackie Bourgaize, Director/Artist Rep, Gallery House Concert Society
