2017 Assessment Values

Mar 27, 2017

The 2017 Assessment notices have been mailed out.

With this year being a revaluation year most properties have seen an increase in their assessment, with some seeing a substantial increase. With this comes the question by many residents, how will this affect my taxes?

Through the budgeting process, council determines what level of funds the municpality requires to operate.  Once that is completed and grant funds are accounted for, the amount of revenue needed from taxes is determined.  That is the value then used to calculate how much taxes will be.  Council will set the mill rate and any other tax tools that are applied.  Please note: The mill rate and mill rate factor for 2017 taxes has NOT been set yet (they will be different from 2016).  Your assessment may have doubled but that does not mean your taxes will double!
