Dutch Elm Disease Survey

Jul 22, 2021

The Town of Carnduff has hired Living Tree Environmental to complete a Dutch Elm Disease survey during the summer of 2021.

Living Tree Environmental personnel will be in our community the week of July 26th, 2021 to identify all American trees with symptoms of DED and contraventions of the provincial DED regulations on public and private lands. Living Tree Environmental personnel will collect branch samples from American elm trees that are displaying DED symptoms when possible/necessary and safe to do so.

DED is spread in Saskatchewan by the native elm and smaller European elm bark beetles, improperly sanitized pruning tools that spread the fungus from diseased to healthy American trees and elm firewood movement.

Living Tree Environmental will acquire permission from landowners and/or community officials before entering private property for both elm branch collection and violation identification.

Your cooperation is essential for the completion of a thorough survey and effective management of this disease! If you have any questions, please contact Jeffery Gooliaff of Living Tree Environmental (306) 314-8193 or the Town at (306)482-3300.
